The Process
Once you have placed your order we will contact you to obtain any information that will be required for us to perform the migration process. This is typically SQL location strings, passwords and the location of the current database.
After receiving this information we start to work;
- We Analise the current database for errors
- We place a maintenance page in the root to your site
- We arrange a suitable time to begin (this time is at your convenience)
- At the allotted time we place a redirect in the database connection file to send clients to the maintenance page
- We then begin the migration process.
ECT clients - we also add any special settings to your includes files if required.
How long does it take;
This all depends on the size of the database, the number of tales and the content within. For guidance a 40mb Access database containing 37 tables and some 15,000 products and a similar number orders being migrated to MS SQL will take 2 hours.
